How to Use the Squarespace Video Block
Videos are an excellent tool for engaging your audience. In fact, 72.1 million US smartphone users watched video on their devices at least monthly in 2013. (source: emarketer.com). Got a video you’d love to feature on your Squarespace site? The Video Block enables you to add an externally hosted video to your site. But please note that Squarespace doesn’t support uploaded video. This block supports Youtube, Vimeo, Wisita, and other video hosting sources/platforms.
If you have needs for integrating video that go beyond the scope of this tool, let us know. We can generally offer a customized solution for your special circumstance.
Here’s how it works:
Choose the Video Block from the Basic Block menu and place it into the desired content area of your website. As usual, once you've styled the Video Block, you can then reposition as you would with any other Squarespace Block.
In the Video Block, you have a few selections to make. Once you add the URL, you can chose to add a custom thumbnail and decide whether or not to display a caption. In certain situations, a video source may provide a code snippet, in which case you can try the embed option.
