Squarespace recently announced that it will begin to offer domains for purchase. Got a cool idea but not yet ready to commit to a site? No problem! A Squarespace website is not required to register a domain.

Starting at $20, Squarespace domains come with a sleek parking page, WHOIS privacy, and the ability to create a custom email address via Google Apps. For added peace of mind, the domains always renew at the same price.

Squarespace reports that it is currently working on an option to transfer existing domains registered elsewhere to Squarespace—although having a domain registered with a popular service such as GoDaddy, Network Solutions, or Register.com does not preclude you from building in Squarespace. It’s simply a matter of repointing your current domain once your new Squarespace site is ready to launch.
