Squarespace Website Displays Oscar the Grouch’s Trash Art Collection

How Squarespace Supports Imaginative Thinking and Creativity Across Generations

11.29.19 In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Sesame Street, Squarespace has teamed up with the nonprofit educational organization Sesame Workshop on a holiday campaign starring Oscar the Grouch. The two New York City-based companies are working together to support imaginative thinking, self-expression, and creativity.

In Sesame Workshop’s first-ever holiday campaign, the group presents a short film about Oscar reluctantly forced out of his trash can to be the highlight of the New York art scene. A new friend of Oscar’s sees the trash he has collected as art, and builds him a Squarespace website, OscarTrashArt.com, to showcase his trash collections online.

As part of the project, Squarespace has also partnered with New York City Garbage Artist Justin Gignac, who has created 25 limited edition art capsules with trash found on Sesame Street, inspired by Oscar’s rise in the art world. Proceeds from the sale of these capsules will benefit the Sesame Workshop, which provides educational resources to children in need.
