Waxing Poetic in Squarespace

New Zealand Poet Builds Beautiful Squarespace Website

It’s the envy of many a writer: the ability to craft moving poetry with just a few, carefully chosen words. Just as Squarespace is an ideal website platform for authors and bloggers, it’s equally effective for poets.

New Zealand-based poet Mary Walker recently approached Fix8 Media for help with her Squarespace website. Built in the Squarespace Maple template, the site was under construction, but she needed a guiding hand to take the design to the next level. Enter Fix8 Media’s talented Creative Director, Josh Neimark, who has been working in the Squarespace platform for 12 years. Via one-on-one screen-share working sessions, Josh worked with Mary across oceans to build the gorgeous Squarespace website you see today.

“At Fix8 Media, we love sharing our knowledge of the Squarespace platform with our clients,” says Neimark. “We offer hourly one-on-one screen-share working sessions to clients who want to work on their website design in real-time. It’s a win-win, as we are able to make great progress on the Squarespace website with the client learning the Squarespace tools as we go!”

After just a handful of working sessions with our Squarespace experts, Mary was able to get her poetry website to the place she wanted it to be. The new Squarespace website acts as a vehicle for sharing her poetry with the world, marketing her book, and offering a free course on writing a poem. Interested visitors can sign up for her weekly letter or get immersed in her poetry blog.

Aesthetically, the new Squarespace poetry website mirrors the themes in Mary’s poems, resulting in the holistic experience the writer was hoping to convey with her online presence.

Choosing words wisely,

VISIT THE SITE

“I’m delighted with my new website. Both the process of working with Josh, and the end result, exceeded my expectations.

I wasn’t entirely sure what I needed my website to do, but I was clear about how I wanted it to feel. With his astute questions and great listening, Josh was able to show me what my website could do for me, and how to help visitors have the experience I wanted them to.

I wanted to be able to manage my own website once it was set up. Josh not only helped me build it but made sure I was learning what I needed in order to manage it myself in the future. Being a highly visual person, I loved the working sessions where we could try things and adjust them in real time to get the look and feel right.Throughout the process I felt like nothing was a bother, and everything was possible! I appreciated Josh’s reminders to stay clear about what I wanted visitors to do or pay attention to on each page. I’ve learned so much from him about design and marketing.

I feel confident about managing my website from hereon out, but I also love knowing I can call up Josh anytime for another session if I get stuck!”
